أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُسَبِّحُ لَهُۥ مَن فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَٱلطَّيْرُ صَـٰٓفَّـٰتٍ ۖ كُلٌّ قَدْ عَلِمَ صَلَاتَهُۥ وَتَسْبِيحَهُۥ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌۢ بِمَا يَفْعَلُونَ
Alam tara annal laaha yusabbihu lahoo man fissamaawaati wal ardi wat tairu saaaffaatim kullun qad 'alima Salaatahoo wa tasbeehah; wallaahu 'aleemum bimaa yaf'aloon
Czy ty nie widziałeś, iż Boga wysławiają ci, co są w niebiosach i na ziemi, i ptaki z rozpostartymi skrzydłami? Każdy wie, jak się modlić i jak wysławiać Boga. Bóg wie dobrze, co oni czynią.
Do you not see that God is glorified by all who are in the heavens and the earth, and by the birds with wings outspread? Each knows its own prayer and glorification, and God knows well what they do.
Ṣāffāt describes the birds with wings held out in rank, and the same participle opens surah 37, read there as the angels drawn up in ranks, so a bird in flight is put in their posture. The clause about knowing admits two readings: every creature aware of the worship proper to it, or God aware of the worship of each. Arabic lets the pronoun go either way, and the verse's last clause returns the knowing to God regardless.
