Surah An-Nahl — 16:78

Wallaahu akhrajakum mim butooni ummahaatikum laa ta'lamoona shai'anw wa ja'ala lakumus sam'a wal absaara wal af'idata la'allakum tashkuroon

Bóg wyprowadził was z łona waszych matek. Wy nie widzieliście niczego. On dał wam słuch, wzrok i serca. Być może, będziecie wdzięczni!

And God brought you out from your mothers' wombs knowing nothing, and gave you hearing and sight and hearts, so that you might be grateful.

Reflection

The sequence is deliberate: hearing is named before sight, an order the Qur'an keeps and which classical readers matched to how an infant comes into the world. The word for heart here is af'idah, the plural of fu'ād, naming the inward faculty that feels as much as it judges. Surah al-Nahl is an inventory of gifts, and this one arrives with a purpose attached, which is why gratitude closes the verse.
