Surah Al-Muzzammil — 73:10

وَٱصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَ وَٱهْجُرْهُمْ هَجْرًا جَمِيلًا

Wasbir 'alaa maa yaqoo loona wahjurhum hajran jameelaa

patiently endure what they say, ignore them politely,

Bear patiently what they say, and part from them with a gracious parting.

Reflection

Jamīl qualifies hard actions done well: patience under loss, overlooking an offence, releasing a wife, and here a withdrawal. This is the only place it attaches to hajr, the word for leaving people behind, and the pairing sets a limit — the parting is to carry no retaliation in it. What follows hands the deniers over to God, so the matter continues in other hands.
