Surah Al-A'raf — 7:31

Yaa Banneee Adama khuzoo zeenatakum 'inda kulli masjidinw wa kuloo washraboo wa laa tusrifoo; innahoo laa yuhibbul musrifeen

Children of Adam, put on your finest at every place of worship, and eat and drink, but do not be excessive — he does not love those who go to excess.

Reflection

A command to dress well for worship opens this verse, and its phrase for the place of prostration repeats from two lines earlier, where the instruction was to set your face toward God there. Commentators tie it to a pre-Islamic practice of circling the Kaaba stripped of clothing. Excess is left undefined, and the following verse presses from the other side, asking who ever forbade what God brought out for people.
