وَجَـٰوَزْنَا بِبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱلْبَحْرَ فَأَتَوْا۟ عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ يَعْكُفُونَ عَلَىٰٓ أَصْنَامٍ لَّهُمْ ۚ قَالُوا۟ يَـٰمُوسَى ٱجْعَل لَّنَآ إِلَـٰهًا كَمَا لَهُمْ ءَالِهَةٌ ۚ قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ تَجْهَلُونَ
Wa jaawaznaa bi Banneee Israaa'eelal bahra fa ataw 'alaa qawminy ya'kufoona 'alaaa asnaamil lahum; qaaloo yaa Moosaj'al lanaa ilaahan kamaa lahum aalihah; qaala innakum qawmun tajhaloon
Dan Kami seberangkan Bani Isrā`īl ke seberang lautan itu, maka setelah mereka sampai kepada suatu kaum yang tetap menyembah berhala mereka, Bani Isrā`īl berkata, "Hai Musa, buatlah untuk kami sebuah tuhan (berhala) sebagaimana mereka mempunyai beberapa tuhan (berhala)". Musa menjawab, "Sesungguhnya kamu ini adalah kaum yang tidak mengetahui (sifat-sifat Tuhan)".
And we brought the Children of Israel across the sea, and they came upon a people devoted to idols of their own. They said, "Musa, make for us a god like the gods they have." He said, "You are truly a people who act in ignorance.
