Surah Al-Hashr — 59:10

Wallazeena jaaa'oo min ba'dihim yaqooloona Rabbanagh fir lanaa wa li ikhwaani nal lazeena sabqoonaa bil eemaani wa laa taj'al fee quloobinaa ghillalil lazeena aamanoo rabbannaaa innaka Ra'oofur Raheem

Those who came after them say, ‘Lord, forgive us our sins and the sins of our brothers who believed before us, and leave no malice in our hearts towards those who believe. Lord, You are truly compassionate and merciful.’

And those who came after them say, "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers and sisters who preceded us in faith, and let no rancor remain in our hearts toward those who believe. Our Lord, you are truly kind, most merciful."

Reflection

A third group enters the passage here, marked out by nothing except coming afterward. Commentators read that as leaving the category open with no end date, since anyone later meets the description by the same fact that put them there, so the account of who belongs never closes. The words themselves are a prayer, and a reader who says them has already done the one thing the description asks.
