قُرْءَانًا عَرَبِيًّا غَيْرَ ذِى عِوَجٍ لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ
Qur-aanan 'Arabiyyan ghaira zee 'iwajil la'allahum yattaqoon
an Arabic Quran, free from any distortion- so that people may be mindful.
An Arabic Qur'an, without any crookedness, so that they may be mindful of God.
Both descriptions sit in apposition to the book named a line earlier, so they are said of the same Qur'an just credited with every kind of parable. The philologists separated ʿiwaj, with a kasra, from ʿawaj with a fatha: the first belongs to things having no physical shape, speech or a way of life, the second to a bent stick.
