ٱلَّذِينَ يَذْكُرُونَ ٱللَّهَ قِيَـٰمًا وَقُعُودًا وَعَلَىٰ جُنُوبِهِمْ وَيَتَفَكَّرُونَ فِى خَلْقِ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ رَبَّنَا مَا خَلَقْتَ هَـٰذَا بَـٰطِلًا سُبْحَـٰنَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ
Allazeena yazkuroonal laaha qiyaamaiw-wa qu'oodanw-wa 'alaa juno obihim wa yatafakkaroona fee khalqis samaawaati wal ardi Rabbanaa maa khalaqta haaza baatilan Subhaanak faqinaa 'azaaban Naar
(yaitu) orang-orang yang mengingat Allah sambil berdiri atau duduk atau dalam keadan berbaring dan mereka memikirkan tentang penciptaan langit dan bumi (seraya berkata), "Ya Tuhan kami, tiadalah Engkau menciptakan ini dengan sia-sia. Maha Suci Engkau, maka peliharalah kami dari siksa neraka.
those who remember God standing, sitting, and lying on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth: 'Our Lord, you did not create this in vain. Glory be to you — protect us from the punishment of the fire.
Remembrance here covers every posture a body can take, upright, seated and lying down, which leaves no condition of a person outside it. The thinking that follows turns into speech, and that address carries on through the three prayers closing the surah. Those of understanding are described by what they do with their attention rather than by what they have concluded.
