وَمَنْ أَرَادَ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ وَسَعَىٰ لَهَا سَعْيَهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ كَانَ سَعْيُهُم مَّشْكُورًا
Wa man araadal Aakhirata wa sa'aa lahaa sa'yahaa wa huwa mu'minun fa ulaaa'ika kaana sa'yuhum mashkooraa
But if anyone desires the life to come and strives after it as he should, as a true believer, his striving will be thanked.
But whoever desires the hereafter and strives for it with the striving it deserves, as a believer — their striving will be received with thanks.
Three conditions stack here: wanting it, working for it, and believing. The middle one is a cognate accusative, striving it its own striving, which sets the effort by the size of the thing sought. The reward is named as thanks, mashkūr, from the root behind al-Shakūr; commentators take God's thanks to mean acceptance of a small deed and repayment past its measure.
