Surah Al-Hijr — 15:29

فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُۥ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِى فَقَعُوا۟ لَهُۥ سَـٰجِدِينَ

Fa izaa sawwaituhoo wa nafakhtu feehi mir roohee faqa'oo lahoo saajideen

When I have fashioned him and breathed My spirit into him, bow down before him,’

So when I have shaped him and breathed into him of my spirit, fall down before him in prostration.

Reflection

Rūḥī, my spirit, is read by most commentators as a possessive of honour, the construction behind the house of God and the she-camel of God, marking something God dignifies by calling it his own. The voice has changed too: two verses earlier the making was told in the plural of majesty, and here God speaks to the angels as I. The prostration is timed to the breath, once the shaping is complete.
